Individual lapse, not of party: P S Sreedharan Pillai
Thiruvananthapuram: Former BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai on Saturday said his party was being trapped for something it did not do. He was referring to the controversies regarding the medical college scam. While talking to reporters at Kesari Hall, he said the BJP was being crucified for the mistake committed by an ‘individual.’
Mr Pillai came under the attack of media at the press meet as he claimed that only a fraction of the party was behind the scam and the entire party was being blamed for it. He maintained that R. S. Vinod, BJP’s co-operative cell convener, had already been expelled from the primary membership of the party. “Further actions will be taken against Vinod as per the recommendations of the party central leadership. BJP general secretary M. T. Ramesh is not involved in the case as he is an uncorrupted politician. We are 101 per cent sure about it,” Mr Pillai said.
Mr Kummanam sent Mr Pillai to Kesari Hall in the midst of state office-bearers’ meeting, which stretched almost to 7 pm, to address the media at 3:40 pm. Mr Pillai also said action will be taken against those found guilty no matter how big they were. He also informed that the party would cooperate with any investigation into the case even as the state government has initiated a vigilance inquiry into it.
