AIADMK, police promote liquor sales, alleges ex-min

Mr Senthil Balaji also claimed that he was sidelined in an official function organised to distribute free cycles.

Chennai: Former state minister and Aravakurichi MLA V. Senthil Balaji (belonging to the AIADMK) has alleged that the ruling AIADMK and police were hand in glove in promoting liquor sales.

The legislator who had earlier created a flutter in the Assembly by criticising the Edappadi Palaniswami government on GST, claimed that despite a court order, liquor shops flourished in Karur district and many even functioned from small streets. "The ruling AIADMK and the police, in close collusion, encouraged liquor sales," he alleged and urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to take appropriate action.

Mr Senthil Balaji also claimed that he was sidelined in an official function organised to distribute free cycles. "Though transport minister M. R. Vijayabhaskar and district collector participated in the function, I had not been invited to take part in the function in my capacity as MLA," he alleged.
