Row over land to political parties
Vijayawada: The state government orders to provide lands (space) for political parties in Amaravati capital location for offices construction purpose has created controversy in the political parties. Though the state government has never invited them so far for any purpose, they demanded several times on various public related issues including capital construction and special status.
But significantly, the government decided to provide lands to construct offices for political parties. Now the issue has turned controversial when the rules are totally useful for the Telugu Desam and nominally for the YSR Congress. According GO MS No. 826 issued by the state government on Thursday, the political parties are divided into three categories and lands would be allotted for the parties from 33 years to 99 years lease condition with an amount of Rs 1,000 per every year. But the government rules are not useful to the Left parties, the CPI and the CPM. The main opposition YSRC and the BJP also get nominal benefit from the rules.
The political parties which have more than 50 per cent strength in the Assembly can get four acres land in Amaravati capital location or CRDA limits, which comes under category A. As per rules, the TD only can get four acres land in the capital area. The parties which have 25 per cent to 50 per cent strength in the Assembly will get 1,000 square yard land under category-2, while those with below 25 per cent strength in the Assembly will get 300 square yard land. As per rules, the opposition YSRC will get 1,000 square yards land in Amaravati, while the BJP will get 300 square yards. The Left parties and other parties cannot get any land from government when their representation is nil in the Assembly.
Similarly, the telugu Desam can get 2 acres land in the district headquarters and the YSRC will get only 1,000 square yards and the BJP will get 300 square yards in district headquarters under three categories simultaneously. More-over, the collector or any higher authorities related to land allotment cou-ld cancel the land allotments if they found any irregularities, reveals the GO. CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna observed that the GO is totally being misused for allotting land only for the ruling party.
