Visakhapatnam: The state government is moving swiftly on the proposed Medical Devices Manufacturing Park at Vizag, which will be a first of its kind facility in India. The state government had recently issued orders transferring an extent of 204 acres of land at Nadupuru village in Anakapalle to the state medical and health department for the proposed park. A GO MS No. 272 was issued.
State medical and health department had also formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) with Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AIMED) to establish the park and a temporary office has started functioning at IT SEZ in Madhurawada. The land was also given in advance possession to the SPV. Around 100 manufacturing units can be given land plots to manufacture various medical devices at the proposed facility.
The Union Government had plans to set up two more such medical devices manufacturing parks at Maharashtra and Gujarat. Recently a high-level delegation headed by health minister Kamineni Srinivas Rao, members of SPV and representatives of AIMED visited the Shanghai International Medical Zone in China to study the medical device manufacturing industry.
“The government, after careful examination, hereby orders for transfer of government land to an extent of Ac. 204.46 cts in Sy.No.480/2 in Nadupuru (V), Pedagantyada (M), Visakhapatnam district in favour of Medical and Health Department for establishment of Medical Technology Manufacturing Park on free of cost, subject to payment ex-gratia to the encroachers,” said the GO.
World renowned consultancy firm KPMG is preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the park. “The 204.4 acres of land at Nadupuru village is handed over in advance possession to the Medical and Health Department and GO to this effect is given by revenue department. Proposals for additional lands of 10+56 acres are being sent. Amount transferred by government have to be transferred by health department to our office. Once the amount is received and farmers are paid, lands will be registered in the name of SPV. Requirement of water, electricity as demand is calculated and being communicated. Fencing by Vuda will start shortly. Temporary office in IT SEZ has started functioning,” said district collector Dr N. Yuvaraj.
