Green Drive: K Chandrasekhar Rao plans a surprise inspection
Hyderabad: From Monday, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will take up surprise inspections across the state to personally assess the implementation of the Haritha Haram scheme.
Mr Rao has directed ministers, collectors, MLAs, MLCs and other public representatives to be engaged in Haritha Haram activities till the government’s goal of planting 46 crore saplings is met.
He said he will inspect whether the saplings that were planted during the last two weeks have survived and if conservation measures were taken up by pubic representatives and officials concerned.
Mr Rao on Friday reviewed the progress of Haritha Haram at his camp office with irrigation minister T. Harish Rao and senior officials.
Mr Rao asked ministers and officials to prepare district, Assembly constituency and mandal-wise action plan for the effective implementation of Haritha Haram.
He said all the districts were witnessing good rains this year and everyone should utilise this opportunity for the success of Haritha Haram by planting more saplings.
Mr Rao asked officials to make alternative arrangements to water plants wherever there are no rains for some days. He directed them to press into service fire engines to water the plants in such areas. Drivers of these fire engines would be given walkie-talkies so that they can be contacted in case of any emergency.
Likewise, services of water tankers available in panchayats, municipalities and corporations would be utilised. Mr Rao said he was already obtaining information from various sources over how public representatives and officials were participating in Haritha Haram.
