Finance ministers to meet over GST in Delhi
Visakhapatnam: To build a consensus over the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Bill, all state finance ministers will meet in Delhi on July 26, Andhra Pradesh finance minster Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said on Friday. Addressing the state-level Chartered Accountants’ Conference at Gitam University here on Friday, he said the state had sought some amendments in the GST Bill to ensure that it did not face a worse revenue deficit. The minister said that the GST Council should take the views and suggestions of the states into consideration before tabling the GST Bill in the Rajya Sabha. “We have found many loopholes in the GST which will be discussed in the meet. The finance minister said that there was also the need for uniform taxation among many things in all the states.”
“The taxes we pay in our state is different from that of other states. Many people in the border areas fill petrol in other states due to the concessional offers. This leads to trade diversion, which is very bad for state revenues,” he said. The minister urged citizens to become tax compliant for the development of the state. He reminded everyone that CAs had a huge responsibility to make their clients pay taxes properly. He said that correct payment of taxes would boost GDP growth in India, which had been witnessing black money in circulation.
