Cash-for-vote scam: Supreme Court issues notice to Jerusalem Mathaiah

Mathaiah had moved the High Court for quashing of the criminal proceedings.

Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to Jerusalem Mathaiah in the cash-for-vote scam on an appeal filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Telangana, challenging the order passed by the Hyderabad High Court which had quashed the case against him. The ACB had listed Mathaiah as an abettor and made him Accused No. 4 in the case along with TD legislator A. Revanth Reddy and others. Mathaiah had moved the High Court for quashing of the criminal proceedings. A single judge of the High Court quashed the proceedings against him.

Aggrieved by this, the ACB moved the Supreme Court contending that the High Court had failed to take several facts which showed Mathaiah’s abetment which could be punished under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
