Telangana HC asks state to spell out ITS Stand on fishing Rights

However, the government has now issued a new order without considering the objections raised by the relevant communities.

Hyderabad: The TS HC has directed the state government to explain its stand on A petition challenging the government’s decision in issuing GO-74, which extends fishing rights to project affected families.

Justice P. Naveen Rao issued notices to the government while dealing with a plea filed by the fishermen’s co-operative society of Jangoan district.

Mr D.L. Pandu, the counsel for the petitioner organisation, submitted that the government in 1964 had allowed fishing rights to only 29 communities via GO-98, which was issued on January 22, 1964. However, the government has now issued a new order without considering the objections raised by the relevant communities.
