Sooner the coalition goes, the better for Karnataka: BJP

Those who are unable to run administration talk of snap polls. However, our party will not allow to it to happen.

Bengaluru: BJP general secretary and incharge of Karnataka affairs Muralidhar Rao said on Saturday that his party’s main aim was to dethrone the ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition and install a BJP government though it did not favour mid-term polls.

Speaking after launching a fresh membership drive here on Saturday, he said the Congress and JD(S), which were rejected by the people in the assembly and Lok Sabha polls, had stitched an unholy alliance to form a government in the state. “People of Karnataka are waiting for this government to fall. The future of Karnataka would be better if this government goes at the earliest,” he said.

“Those who are unable to run administration talk of snap polls. However, our party will not allow to it to happen. If they can't run the government, we will do it with the help of 105 MLAs,” he added. Mr Rao said that in current situation, people are not ready for another election. “They have already rejected the coalition partners. A senior IPS officer, who was allegedly involved in a major scam, has not only been promoted but also made Police commissioner of Bengaluru city,” he alleged. This was the gift to a corrupt officer by the coalition government, he said. State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa said the coalition government would not last till the monsoon session of the state legislature and asked party leaders to be patient till then.

“If this government had any self-respect, it should have resigned after the LS poll verdict. While father (Deve Gowda) says will go for mid-term poll, his son says let us hold village stay programme. The CM himself does not know what is happening in the coalition government,” the former CM said.
