Ministers, MLAs in Coimbatore pray for rains
Coimbatore: Special ‘Varuna Yaga Pooja Velvis’ were organised by the Municipal administration and rural development minister SP Velumani here, at Perur-Patteswarar temple and Sangameswarar temple here on Saturday.
According to sources, following serve drought in various parts of the state including Chennai, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami through the state HR& CE department, ordered to conduct special ‘Yaga Velvis Poojas’ in temples across the state, to appease the rain God for good monsoons.
Minister SP Velumani, along with MLAs Ettimadai Shanmugam for Kinathukadavu and Kasthuri Vasu of Valparai, participated in a ‘Varuna Yaga Velvi’ at Perur-Patteshwarar temple along with a large number of party functionaries and cadre from the rural AIADMK district wing. Coincidentally, drizzling was witnessed and the sky remained cloudy the entire day in Coimbatore on Saturday.
Meanwhile, another team led by Coimbatore city AIADMK wing secretary and MLA PRG Arun Kumar along with MLAs Amman Arjun, OK Chinna Raj, former MLA KP Raju and former mayor Ganapathy Raj Kumar, along with other party functionaries took part in ‘Varuna Yaga Velvi’ and ‘Poojas’ at Kottai Sangameswarar temple.
