Kochi: Monsoon festival to mix ensemble of rain, dance

The stage will also witness Mohiniyattom, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and women’s Kathakali on the occasion.

KOCHI: The Bharat Bhavan South Zone Cultural Centre in association with DTPC, Ernakulam, Kochi Corporation and Kalanjali, Thiruvananthapuram, will host a Monsoon Fest and Indian Classical Dance Festival at Ernakulam Town Hall in Kochi on Monday evening.

From 5.30 pm various Indian dance forms that combine the rhythm and visual beauty of rain will be staged there. Dance troupes drawn from Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Telengana will stage various dance forms. Women Kathakali artistes of eminence will be honoured on the occasion.

The stage will also witness Mohiniyattom, Bhar-atanatyam, Kuchipudi and women’s Kathakali on the occasion. A troupe from Kalanjali will stage the Mohiniyattom while artistes from Chennai Kalakshethra and ICHC Kochi will stage Bharatan-atyam and artistes from Andhra Pradesh will perform Kuchipudi. A wom-en’s troupe from Tripunit-hura will stage Kathakali.

The cultural meet to be held in connection with the event will be inaugurated by Prof M.K. Sanu at a function attended by district collector S. Suhas and DTPC executive committee member John Fernandez, MLA.
