Vizianagaram writers bag Sahitya awards
VISAKHAPATNAM: Two writers from Vizianagaram district were selected to receive Kendriya Sahitya Akademi Puraskar—2018. Naramsetty Umamaheswara Rao (54), a native of Parvathipuram in Vizianagaram district was selected to receive the Bal Sahitya Puraskar, while Bala Sudhakar Mouli, 30, of Nellimarla was conferred the Yuva Sahitya Puraskar.
According to a city-based poet Gavidi Srinivas, both writers are working as government teachers. Mr Mouli writes on social issues and all his poems revolve around the problems of the common man. His father is also a writer and Mouli was inspired by him.
The writer has been recognised for his collection of poems ‘Aku Kadalani Chota,’ published in 2016 by Siccolu Book Trust. He also bagged Ummadisetti Sahiti Award for another work, ‘Yegaralsina Samayam,’ in 2014. Mr Mouli is schedule to launch a new book this year.
Mr Rao was recognised for his Telugu novel 'Ananda Lokam' published in Moksham magazine during 2013-16. He has written more than 1,500 poems, essays, novels and stories. He has already published 20 books and 23 more are pending with various publishing houses.
