Jesna missing case: Police to probe building site

The construction commenced in July 2017, but was stopped mid-way in January this year.

PATHANAMTHITTA: The special investigation team probing the Jesna missing case will conduct further inspection at a building site of Jesna's father James Joseph at Enthayar near Mundakkayam. The team had received a tip-off that the body might have been buried under the building in a 'Drishyam' model murder.

The police had placed boxes at Mukkoottuthara, Jesna’s native place, and St. Dominic College at Kanjirappally where she had studied, seeking secret information from the public regarding the missing girl. An action council formed under Vechoochira panchayat governing council seeking justice to Jesna had also demanded inspection of the site earlier.

Jesna’s father James had undertaken contract work for one of the houses that was funded by a college to be donated to destitute students. The construction commenced in July 2017, but was stopped mid-way in January this year. The team found that grass was grown inside the house under construction except at some area, which made the team suspicious. The team has also sought the aid of forensic experts for a detailed examination of a blood- stained piece of cloth recovered from Jesna's house recently.

The call details of the mobile phone were also retrieved with the help of cyber cell which included messages she had sent to her friend a day before she went missing. The messages hinted that she was going to end her life. The police also found her friend had called Jesna more than a thousand times.

The police received sa tatement from one of the relatives of Jesna that another relative had followed her in a car after she boarded a bus from Mukkoottuthara on the day she went missing. Jesna Maria James, 20, was a second- year B.Com student of St. Dominic’s College, Kanjirapally. Hailing from ‘Kunnath’ at Vechoochira in Ranny, she went missing after she left for her aunt’s house on March 22. A 15-member special investigation team had also been constituted for the investigation earlier.
