ANANTAPUR: An ENT specialist Dr Md. Roohia is winning hearts for her selfless service to the frontline warriors by extending services to the Anantapur police directly and through a police helpline to the police personnel of all levels in Chittoor and Tirupati areas. She is the wife of Anantapur Two Town Circle Inspector Jakir Hussain.
Dr Roohia joined hands with her husband to serve meet the medical needs of the police ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the district last year. She heads a team rendering timely advice to the police in the Anantapur range i.e., Anantapur, Chittoor and Tirupati. These days she has intensified her efforts to help the cops keep the dreaded black fungus at bay.
The ENT specialist’s services are the need of the hour for the frontline warrior cops who are on duty round-the-clock. With so many personnel either falling sick or succumbing to the virus, her responsibilities only grew over time. She even visits of the families of the Covid-affected if necessary. Service to the cops and their families takes most of her time, though she also works at a private hospital in Anantapur.
During the first wave, she participated even in swab collection drive for the police personnel at Anantapur headquarters and their families. So dedicated was she to her services that she did not give up serving the patients free of cost even during Ramzan.
“Dr Roohia provided exemplary services to the police department in Anantapur,” said SP Satya Esubabu, appreciating her services. Anantapur DIG Kranthi Rana Tata was all praise for her services to the personnel across the Anantapur range.
Her husband Inspector Jakir Hussain said she came forward voluntarily to be of any help to the cops as she was moved by the relentless services rendered by them. On his part, Hussain visits ICU wards to instill confidence among Covid patients and even helps with the last rites of the Covid victims.
