Patient given 10 Remdesivir injections against norms
ANANTAPUR: A private hospital in Anantapur has injected 10 remdesivir vials into Covid-19 patient, though the norm is six injections. This despite the World Health Organisation removing remdesivir injections from the list of drugs for treating the Coronavirus due to side effects the steroid is causing.
The woman patient, who has been administered these remdesivir vials, is still critical at the hospital.
Further, 20 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported from various parts of Anantapur district on Saturday. Of them, 11 patients are being treated in Government General Hospital, Anantapur, and three in Hndupur District Area Hospital.
Anantapur GGH superintendent Dr Venkateswar Rao said the hospital is making necessary arrangements to treat the patients black fungus. “Our ENT wing is treating these patients,” he stated.
A social worker M. Srinvasulu, native of Madakasira, said a patient from Tanakal in Kadiri area is recovering after he has been provided timely treatment at a hospital in Bengaluru.
The Anantapur Entrepreneurs Organisation has donated 50 oxygen concentrators, each worth of Rs. 1.03 lakh, to district collector Gandham Chandrudu on Saturday. The collector said the oxygen concentrators will be deployed at a temporary hospital set up in Sharada Nagar.
