Bengaluru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who was sworn- in on May 23 last year, doesn't plan on celebrating his first anniversary till at least Thursday evening when the crucial Lok Sabha poll results will be out.
The Chief Minister's office staff explained that the celebrations could not be held as long as the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha poll was still in force
But the Chief Minister has clearly a lot more on his mind than celebrating his one year in office as the Lok Sabha poll results will seal the fate of his son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy who is contesting from Mandya and also possibly of his government as the BJP is only waiting for an opportunity to destabilise it.
He is also reportedly unsure of the loyalty of Congress leaders, who have been making statements virtually putting his government on notice despite the assurance of Congress president, Rahul Gandhi that he had his party's unstinting support.
It appears that such concerns prompted both JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda and Mr Kumaraswamy to put off their flight to Delhi on Tuesday, and stay back in Bengaluru.
With exit polls predicting doomsday for the coalition , Mr Kumaraswamy and Mr Gowda seem to have decided to maintain a distance from both the Congress and the BJP until the results are announced and the events unfold thereafter. As of now the two men appear to be on tentherhooks as D-day dawns.
Meanwhile, Mr Kumaraswamy Wednesday expressed hope his government would complete its five-year term with the support and blessings of the coalition partner, on the eve of completion of one year in office.
