Telangana Police Academy to introduce course on road safety for DSPs

The department taking up several measures to reduce road accidents.

Hyderabad: The TS Police Academy will introduce a special course on road safety for all SI and DSP trainees. The package was developed by the TSPA and the Road Safety Authority.

Following SC orders on road safety, all states are adopting prevention measures to curb road accidents by constituting committees to implement the new steps.
Additional DG of the Road Safety Authority and Railways T. Krishna Prasad said that both wings had selected 15 acres on the TSPA premises at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore.

“All cadets will be taught about road safety, traffic enforcement, trauma care management, road engineering corrections, investigation of accident cases and other aspects,” he said.

The government has already called tenders for a detailed project report on expression of interest basis. Both the RSA and TSPA were given demonstrations and presentations by various consultants.

Mr Prasad said that apart from education on road safety to cadets, the department was taking up several measures to reduce road accidents, “We have identified 360 black spots where most of the accidents have taken place. With coordination between all the other departments, we are rectifying such problems,” he said.
