Tamil Nadu CM ceremony may affect Wallajah Road
Chennai: The city traffic police have made elaborate arrangements for the free flow of vehicles during the swearing-in-ceremony of AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa as chief minister at noon on Monday at the Madras university centenary auditorium but there could be some traffic snarls on Wallajah Road off Anna Salai as well as on Kamarajar Salai because of the gathering of a large crowd from morning onwards.
To control the rush for parking rush in and around the university campus, the police have issued green, blue and brown coloured parking passes to guests.
According to sources, traffic may get diverted or stopped for some time on Wallajah Road and Kamarajar Salai if the police find it difficult to handle the vehicles arriving at the venue.
All the coloured passes, further classified as P1, P2, P3 and P4 have been allotted parking in different places. Guests arriving in vehicles with only the green coloured passes with P1 mark will be allowed to get down near Centenary hall
while other green colour pass holders with P2 and P3 will have to get down at the gate and the warden’s hostel respectively.
Blue and brown coloured passes are further marked as P1,P2, P3 and P4. Blue colured pass holders can get down at Wallajah Road and Canal Road junction but parking should be done as per the P classification. Brown pass holders can get down at Kamarajar Salai and Sivananda Salai junction and park their vehicles as per instruction and P markings in the passes.
