Watch: Summer heat melts roads in Gujarat's Valsad district

The summer heat has been assuming gargantuan proportions this year, beating heat records in several cities across the country.

Ahmedabad: Pedestrians in Gujarat's Valsad district on Saturday had a hard time crossing the roads with the summer heat reducing it to a sticky mess.

Videos emerged, showing troubled men and women attempting to cross the road, as shoes and slippers stuck to the melting tar.

Another footage showed a woman being helped up after slipping on the road, moments before a truck is seen rumbling down the spot where she fell.

The summer heat has been assuming gargantuan proportions this year, beating heat records in several cities across the country.

This year, Bengaluru recorded the highest temperature in 85 years, while Kerala boiled at 41.8 degree Celsius beating heat records since 29 years.

In Andhra Pradesh, the highest maximum temperature was recorded in Bapatla at 44 degrees Celsius, while mercury crossed the 40 degrees Celsius mark at over 11 places in the state, IMD officials said.

At 51 degree Celsius, Rajasthan’s Phalodi recently hit the news to be the country’s hottest region, and recorded the highest temperature ever since heat records were formed.
