OSCAR asks for AOC roads meet
Hyderabad: The Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads movement has written to the principal director for defence estates to withdraw the decision to close roads in the Army area and sought an emergency meeting.
OSCAR said in the letter that the Secunderabad Cantonment Board met on May 16 in which the members were once again prevented from raising the issue of closure of about 12 roads closed in the SCB area. The ministry of defence letter was not tabled, it said.
OSCAR leader S. Chandrasekhar told the media that when the elected board members asked the CEO about the non-tabling of the letter, the CEO reportedly replied that she had shown them the letter earlier.
“The elected board denied this and pointed out that there is no record in the minutes of any board meeting of the letter having ever been placed in the SCB Board. OSCAR also has in its possession declarations from all elected board members present in the meeting of May 16 to the effect that they were never made aware of the MoD letter till date,” he said.
He said that OSCAR had requested the PDDE to hold an emergency meeting of SCB on a single point agenda to discuss the road closure issue and to reopen the closed roads in Secunderabad forthwith.
