Hyderabad: Power back only 2 days after storm
Hyderabad: A large number of households in Banjara Hills, Toli Chowki, Dwarakapuri Colony and Golconda areas received power supply on Sunday evening 48 hours after the storm hit the city uprooting trees and damaging electricity poles and distribution infrastructure.
Though the Southern Discom restored power supply to the 11-kv feeders that brought back electricity in almost all the areas that were affected by the storm, many individual buildings and independent houses did not have supply till Sunday as service wires had snapped. Not many residents were aware about service wire problem.
“We did not know that officials had restored the supply. There was no current in four houses in our lane but the remaining had got the supply back. We thought one-phase current is being given. It was when an electricity official told us that power supply has been restored on the distribution network and it is individual house problem (service wire) that we requested them to fix it,” said K Sirisha of Road No 13 Banjara Hills.
