Vijayawada: Special drone to help fire services
Vijayawada: The students of Potti Sriramulu Chaluvadi Mallikarjuna Rao College of Engineering and Technology designed a special drone that can help the fire services department and demonstrated how it would function to the personnel at the AP State Disaster Response Fire Service office here on Monday.
The students of mechanical stream (fourth year) CH. Priyanka, N. Mohan Surya, P. Rajesh Kumar, M.M. Raju, K. Rajesh, M.K. Sai Santosh and G. Giridhar, under the guidance of assistant professor K. Girish Kumar, assembled the drone with very less expenditure.
They used electronic speed controller, motors, transmitters, receivers, battery, Servo motors to make the drone.
On the occasion, head of the mechanical department, Dr. P.S. Srinivas explained about the special features of the drone like how it would enter places from where smoke keeps billowing to identify if there are any victims and that it would release CO2 to extinguish the fire and save victims at the time of the accident.
College principal Dr K.Nageswara Rao said that the drone was designed to help the disaster management department to save animals stuck in fire accidents in forests and on hilltops.
Director of fire services, K. Satyanarayana, divisional fire services chief R. Jayaram Naik were the chief guests of the programme. They appreciated the students who made the drone.
College secretary and correspondent Ravuri Venkata Subba Rao, president Chaluvadi Mallikarjuna Rao, treasurer K. Venkateswara Rao congratulated and lauded the students who designed the project and professors who guided them.
