Thiruvananthapuram: Over 2.61 crore voters in the state will seal the fate of 227 candidates, including 23 women, who are trying their luck in the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies on Tuesday. The polling will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. across 24,970 polling stations. In the last Lok Sabha elections in 2014, the state had recorded 74.04 per cent polling.
Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena said that all arrangements were in place. “Polling officials have reached their respective polling stations with the polling materials, including EVM ballot units, control units and VVPAT machines,” he added.
In Idukki, a couple of officials on poll duty were found drunk and they were replaced.

The state has 2,61,51, 534 eligible voters including 1,34,66,521 females, 1,26,84,839 males and 174 transgenders.
Over 1,01,140 officials have been deputed for the poll exercise, including 33,710 presiding officers and 1,670 sectoral officers. Officials assembled at the distribution centres since morning for collecting election materials for their respective polling stations. Mock poll in each polling station will begin at 6 a.m. After getting clearance certificate from the officer concerned, the actual polling
will begin at 7 a.m.
