Karimnagar: All must work to build safe world
Karimnagar: Everyone must strive hard to protect Earth and must feel it as a social responsibility to sustain mankind, stated founder president of ‘Dharti Bachavo Organisation’ Mohammad Azaam on Monday. ‘World Earth Day’ was observed under the Dharti Bachavo Organisation here at Tribal Welfare Residential College situated at Saptagiri Colony in Karimnagar.
On the occasion of World Earth Day, several events and campaigns will be held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection and according to Earth Day Network, this year’s World Earth Day is dedicated to protecting species and raising awareness about the accelerating rate of extinction of various kinds of species.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Azaam said that the ecological balance is disturbed due to various kinds of human activities. With alarming rate of global warming, pollution of air, water and soil, the sustenance of mankind has becoming a question mark in days to come.
According to United Nations, climate change is the world’s greatest challenge. But it’s also the world’s greatest opportunity to build a safer, more prosperous future for all. “We need to remember that Earth Day cannot be restricted to just one day and it is an ongoing process. We should all get behind this movement,” he added.
Mr Azaam said that it is the responsibility of everyone to do their tiny bit to help and protect the environment and it can be done by avoiding plastic and polythene covers as it would take some hundreds of years to degrade it, along with afforestation programmes.
Later, he made the students to take a pledge for protecting the earth and do away with plastic and distributed bags made of clothes through College principal Ravinder.
