Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy to quit Congress, meets KTR to join TRS

The Congress MLA said that he had decided to join the TRS after consulting his well-wishers.

Hyderabad: In a fresh setback to the Congress in Telangana, another of its MLAs formally announced his decision to quit the party and join the TRS.

Mr Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy met TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao here, TRS sources said. Mr Reddy will be the 11th Congress legislator to announce his defection from the party to the TRS.

In a statement, Mr Reddy, the Bhupalapally MLA, appreciated the Chandrasekhar Rao-led government’s development and welfare initiatives.

The Congress MLA said that he had decided to join the TRS after consulting his well-wishers.

Announcing his decision to quit the Congress, Mr Reddy said he would resign from the MLA post “if necessary.”
