Case against MK Raghavan in spy cam scam

The director-general of prosecution had sent a report to the state police chief in this regard on Friday.

Kozhikode: The police registered case against UDF candidate M.K. Raghavan of Kozhikode constituency in the ‘spy camera scam’ case on Monday. The director-general of prosecution had sent a report to the state police chief in this regard on Friday.

The case was registered under sections of IPC 171 (E) (punishment for bribery) and Prevention of Corruption Act 13 (1) A. Deputy commissioner of police A.K. Jamaluddeen said that the police can proceed with the investigation and subject the footages to forensic examination. Investigation team head IG North Zone M.R. Ajithkumar had submitted a report to the DGP recommending to register a case for further investigation.

The LDF had approached the election commission alleging that Mr Raghavan had sought bribes from the reporter of ‘TV 9’ news channel who had posed as a representative of a business group in search of land for a hospital project.

However, Mr Raghavan said that the visuals were fabricated by the LDF to tarnish his image.

Mr Raghavan said in a press release that the LDF which faced defeat was trying to shock him by slapping fake cases before the elections. The voters would give a fitting reply to the LDF, he said.

“Let the judiciary and the people find out the truth,” he said.
