Kadapa: Anganwadi workers seriously criticised the government for not paying salaries to them since the last three to nine months projects wise in Kadapa.

They held a meeting on Monday at the CITU office premises and demanded for their salaries.

Vemeswari, the state committee member, AP Anganwadi Workers and Helpers’ Union gave an ultimatum to the government to pay the pending salaries immediately or to go for a state-wide strike. The salaries were enhanced to Rs 10,500 but the work load was increased, she alleged.

“We noticed that the Central government was trying to assign the ICDS to private sector. If this comes into force, serious agitation will be made,” Ms Vemeswari threatened. She demanded for a GO on the enhanced salaries from Central government.

Anganwadi centres have not been paying rent for private buildings since the last six months, she said. The meeting was presided over by district committee president Raja Kulayamma.
