Andhra Pradesh official held with Rs 3 crore worth assets

The ACB teams, led by Anantapur DSP Surendra Babu, conducted raids simultaneously at six places.

Anantapur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials raided the house of Anantapur Urban sub-registrar D. Lakshmi Narayana and that of his close relatives in various parts and seized more than Rs 3 crores worth assets, along with cash and gold jewellery, here on Monday.

The ACB sleuths said that they received huge number of complaints against the sub-registrar over illicit properties and high rate of corruption at the office.

The ACB teams, led by Anantapur DSP Surendra Babu, conducted raids simultaneously at six places - office of the sub-registrar, residence of the accused official at Papam Peta, his parents’ house at Indiranagar area in Dharmavaram Town, and residences of his friend, elder brother-in-law and younger brother-in-law at Papampeta in Anantapur Town.

During the raids, the ACB officials seized Rs 12 lakh and 174 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 5 lakhs and also documents pertaining to disproportionate assets of sub-registrar D. Lakshmi Narayana.
