After results, now online portal for re-evaluation fails students

The news came after hundreds of students and parents protested at the board office on Monday because the online portal is not working properly.

Hyderabad: The last date for re-evaluation and recounting for the Telangana State Intermediate results could be rescheduled, according to officials of the Board of Intermediate Education.

The news came after hundreds of students and parents protested at the board office on Monday because the online portal is not working properly.

Scores of students are facing trouble with the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) website in the student online services portal. Though applications for revaluation were invited from April 18, the site continued to give trouble to students till April 22; the last date for revaluation submission is April 25.

Thousands of students are doubtful about the results that were declared recently. Students who were sure of excellent results were shown as having failed.

“My child got 92 per cent in Class X. She got around 87 per cent in the other subjects, but in Maths she got only seven. How is that even possible? Have they forgotten to add another digit? We need to see the answer sheets of our children. And when we are applying for re-evaluation, the site is not helping at all,” says K. Bhanu.

Many parents want the re-evaluation to be free because they say the fault lies with the Board for botching up the results. That demand was ruled out by the Board. Board secretary A. Ashok Kumar said that whoever has doubts can apply for re-verification and they would get the answer sheets. “That is the utmost transparency the Board can provide,” he said.

In the case of some online applicants, the money for the re-verification was deducted, and then it was showing invalid. When they approached the board, they were asked to apply again from Mee Seva.

“My child got 97 per cent in her first year; now it’s showing only 328 in the second year. We applied for re-evaluation in four subjects through the TSBIE website and when we are trying now it’s showing invalid. The Board tells us to apply through Mee Seva centre. We have already paid `2,400 for four subjects. What is wrong with the website?” asks an exasperated parent of second year student P. Reshvanth, P. Madhavi.

“We are resolving the issues that have come to our notice. We are aware of the parents’ struggle, and necessary action will be taken after rectifying the exact reason for the mistake in the result,” said B. Janardhan Reddy, secretary to the government, education department.

Around 132 people from opposition political parties, student organisations and some parents, who staged a protest at the Board office in Nampally, were arrested.
