Unaccounted cash: ATM van seized at police checkpost

The police have confiscated the cash and vehicle and issued a show-cause notice to the firm.

Bengaluru: The Halasooru Gate police intercepted an ATM cash loading vehicle and confiscated Rs 2.19 crore unaccounted cash from the vehicle on OMR road on Saturday night.

The vehicle, belonging to an ATM cash management firm was heading towards Chintamani and the police intercepted the vehicle at a checkpost.

They found that the crew had no supporting documents. The staff claimed they were heading to Chintamani to load cash in 20 ATMs, but they had no documents to substantiate it, a senior police officer said. The police have confiscated the cash and vehicle and issued a show-cause notice to the firm.

Rs 42 lakh seized
In another incident, the Devanahalli police on Sunday morning seized Rs 42 lakh unaccounted cash from a businessman who was travelling in a private bus.

The bus was intercepted early Sunday at a check post located near Rani Circle. The police said that the bus was heading to Kerala from Hyderabad and the passenger was travelling to Kochi. “The bus was stopped during a random check and we screened the luggage and found Rs Rs 42 lakh in cash in a bag belonging to a businessman,” the police said. The businessman told police that was carrying the cash for a timber business in Kerala.

However, Devanahalli police seized the cash told him to provide required documents about the source of money and his business dealings.
