Osmania University: Glitch hits varsity's portal issuing entry passes to fete
Hyderabad: Technical issues seems to be playing spoil sport with Osmania University’s initiative on issuing entry passes for its three-day centenary fete from April 26 to 28. OU adopted a new strategy regarding entry passes, in a departure from the regular procedure of issuing passes across the counter.
Since the university is expecting a crowd of over 20,000 comprising students, teaching and non-teaching faculty, alumni from campus and constituent colleges, it decided to go the online way for passes.
Instructions have been given for all students to log on to the centenary website and fill the registration form to get valid entry pass for the centenary inauguration at A Grounds on April 26.
Different programmes are to be held at Tagore Auditorium over the next two days. The registration data to be submitted includes a person’s details as well as information about his or her college, the branch and year of study etc.
Everyone who is opening the portal to complete the formalities is not having a smooth ride. While some are able to do it, others are unable to complete the registrations. OU student leader Manavatha Rai said that students from PG Hostels had a mixed luck over entry passes.
Some students, he said, have complained that they are unable to register despite several attempts. Dr Manohar Rao, retired professor, said he was getting phone calls from students for the last two days. “They say my phone number was mentioned on the website and hence they are complaining to me. I have brought these issues to the notice of the principals of a few departments,” he said.
