Hyderabad: Special team will seize cars of drunks
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad traffic police has now deployed a special team to seize the vehicles of drunk drivers. Earlier, due to shortage of staff, the vehicles of drunks were either left on the road or transported the next day to the police station.
“Henceforth, for every special drive there will be a special team to take these vehicles and transport it to the police station. The team has two inspectors, two sub inspectors and 15 constables. Earlier the in-charge inspected the vehicle after conclusion of the case and transported it using a crane. However, they find it difficult if the number of cases are more”.
Once drunk motorists are caught their vehicles are taken to the concerned traffic police station. Unless the violators attend the counselling at Begumpet or Gosha-mahal the vehicle is not returned.
For married violators it is mandatory for the spouse to attend the counselling classes while parents should accompany in the case of unmarried individuals. An officer said that many male violators abandon their vehicles as they refuse to bring their wives for the counselling.
