TNGO union suspends wakf board unit over protest

Employees of the Wakf Board had protested against Mr Saleem for allegedly manhandling a suspended employee.

Hyderabad: Conflict between employees and chairman Mohd. Saleem of the Wakf Board took a new turn on Friday as the district unit of the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers’ Union has decided to suspend the ad hoc unit of the board.

Employees of the Wakf Board had protested against Mr Saleem for allegedly manhandling a suspended employee. The board had suspended the officer of the rank of inspector and auditor Syed Ibrahim for allegedly communicating with a top official of the stamps and registration department in connection with a piece of land in Adilabad district.

Board authorities ordered an inquiry and placed the official under suspension as he had no authority to communicate with other departments without consent of the higher officials. Mr Ibrahim after his suspension started lobbying for his reinstatement and went to the hotel of the chairman where during an argument he was allegedly manhandled.

He informed his co-employees and lodged a complaint with the police against Mr Saleem. He also approached the TNGOs Union. Following this, TNGOs Hyderabad chapter president S.M. Hussaini Mujeeb intervened in the matter but the members of the adhoc committee of Wakf Board demonstrated against Mr Saleem. This irked the TNGOs union.
