Daughter files complaint with Election Commission, seeks fair probe

Accused had dispute with Vivekananda over land.

Vijayawada: YSRC leader Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Sunitha Reddy and YSRC MP Y. Vijay Sai Reddy lodged separate complaints with the Election Commission of India at New Delhi. While Dr Reddy sought a CBI probe into the murder of her father, Mr Vijaya Sai Reddy said the AP government was influencing the election process.

Dr Reddy told Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was repeatedly accusing her family members of the murder and diverting the SIT investigation.

She appealed CEC to act for a fair investigation and an impartial report, and asked that the murderers be brought to justice. She had asked State Election Commissioner Gopala Krishna Dwivedi on Thursday for a fair probe. When the poll official said the SEC would not be able to intervene in the investigation, she approached the CEC.

Speaking to media later, Dr Reddy said. “We met the CEC and appealed for a transparent report from the investigation team. SIT officers have been regularly reporting to the DGP and CM about the investigation. CM Naidu is blaming my relatives and he is misleading the investigation process.”

“They are trying to get political benefit from my father’s murder. They are accusing my brother Jagan Mohan Reddy. We fear that my family members may be projected as the accused. The CM is accusing brother of committing the murder,” Dr Reddy said.

She said the SIT was under the control of the AP government, and sought that the investigation be handed over to the CBI or any other independent investigative agency. She said her mother would lodge a complaint with the AP High Court in Vijayawada.

Meeting Mr Arora separately, Mr Vijaya Sai Reddy alleged that the state government was misusing its powers and urged the Election Commission to conduct the elections in AP in a transparent manner.
