KOZHIKODE: The Koduvally police on Thursday registered a case against Farook Training College assistant professor Jauhar Munavar for his sexual remarks against girl students that they "reveal their body like a slice of red watermelon." A complaint was filed by a second-year degree student of the college and a case was registered under IPC 354 A4 (making sexually coloured remarks) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), said the police.
Mr Jauhar had allegedly said at a family counselling session at Elettil Vattoli in Kozhikode that his Muslim students were not covering their chests with hijab but showing them like a ripe piece of watermelon. The video circulated on the social media showed the teacher lambasting girls wearing leggings and holding their purdah up to show them off. Mr Jauhar applied for leave till March 28 after his speech invited criticism and the students took out protest marches to the college.
