Telangana BJP: Muslim quota will spawn Yogi'
Hyderabad: The TS BJP on Wednesday warned that “another Yogi” will emerge in the state if the government provides 12 per cent reservation for Muslims in education and employment. BJP Uppal MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar is believed to have been indirectly referring to right wing leader Yogi Adityanath who was sworn in as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister recently.
“The TRS government should drop the moves to provide reservations based on religion,” Mr Prabhakar said. He alleged that the BC Commission was doing injustice to the BCs in the State undertaking socio-economic survey of Muslims. “Supreme Court has found fault with reservations based on religion for Muslims. The state government should take note of the SC’s comments,” the MLA said.
BJP president Dr K Laxman made it clear BJP would strongly oppose any Bill in the Assembly on reservations for Muslims. “In protest against proposed reservations for Muslims, BJYM will undertake Chalo Assembly. TRS will face the same fate as Congress in undivided AP when its decision to provide 5 per cent reservations for Muslims was struck down by courts and strongly opposed by the people,” Dr Laxman said.
