Centre for African studies to come up in Andhra university

Prof. G. Nageswara Rao said a centre for African Studies will be set up in the University.

Visakhapatnam: Andhra University vice-chancellor Prof. G. Nageswara Rao said a centre for African Studies will be set up in the University. The Andhra University international students' annual meet was conducted on a grand scale in the varsity on Wednesday. Ethiopian minister of communications affairs Negeri Lencho, who was an alu-mnus of Andhra University, was the chief guest. Earlier, Dr. Lencho held discussions with officials of the varsity.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Lencho said the Ethiopian Universities would strengthen academic and research relations with Indian universities, particularly with Andhra University. “The academic collaborations between Ethiopian universities and Andhra University were strong. More collaborations, in terms of teaching and research exchange programmes, between AU and Ethiopian universities will be taken up in the future,” he added.

The different cultures and traditions of various countries displayed as part of the annual meet was the major attraction of the day. Fun and frolic took centrestage in the event. The young students, dressed up in colourful attires, brought more vibrancy to the event.
