Eighteen persons were injured in the blast reported on April 17, 2013, and the banned Al-Umma is suspected to be behind the terror attack. The Bengaluru police, in its chargesheet, said 23 vehicles and 56 buildings were damaged.

The Bengaluru Police had already arrested several terror suspects, including Panna Ismail, Bilal Malik and police Fakruddin in this case. The arrested Al-Umma activists are already charged with murder of fringe-Hindu outfit functionaries in the state here.

Meanwhile, a message was doing the rounds that Bengaluru cops were detained on mistaken identity by city police. A deliberate rumour was milled in social networking platforms stating the duo was kidnapped and a quintet was arrested.
“We did not receive any complaint from the families. However, the Bengaluru cops voluntarily disclosed the details to us and took the suspects with them”, a senior police officer told DC.
