War veterans demand medical SOP in Telangana Budget

According to the government of India records there are only 610 surviving war veterans in India.

Hyderabad: Veterans of the 1962 war have appealed to the state government to include medical benefits for war veterans in the ensuing state Budget.

“We had fought the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars,” said Dr. Chiran-jeevi Kolluru, a veteran. “We are not just ex-servicemen but war veterans. At Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, 44 CRPF jawans were martyred. The whole nation rose as one man and expressed condolences. We also join our citizenry in this regard. How-ever, we had physically fought Pakistan in pitc-hed battles in 1965 and 1971. Many of our brothers in arms were either martyred or injured. Only a few survived.”
