South-easterly winds lead to rise in Telangana temperature

There is a deviation of 3ºC from the normal maximum temperature for this time of year.

Hyderabad: Temperatures in the state have already started rising to above normal. Mahbubnagar reco-rded 38.8ºC on Friday, while Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2ºC.

There is a deviation of 3ºC from the normal maximum temperature for this time of year.

Weather experts say this could be seen as the onset of summer. Temp-eratures have remained cool because of cyclonic depressions in the Bay of Bengal last month.

Mahesh Palawat of Skymet, a private weather service, said, “With the flow of south-easterly winds, which are hot and humid, temperatures are rising. Hot and humid weather will prevail for the next three to four days and then there will be a slight drop in temperature. There won’t be any significant change in temperature.”

Last year the city recorded a maximum of 34ºC about this time of year and it was only by the end of February that the mercury touched 36ºC.

The minimum temperature is also rising and crossed 20ºC; it will continue to increase in the coming days.
