Top cop's wife' files complaint, seeks DG's intervention
Hyderabad: The ‘estranged’ wife of deputy commissioner of police, CAR (City Armed Reserve), K. Babu Rao, has filed a complaint with the director general of police, Telangana, Mr M. Mahendar Reddy, alleging that her husband, along with another woman, Tayyaba Tasneem, forged her signatures and used the woman’s photos instead of hers in documents and sold her land in Vijayawada.
She appealed to the DGP to order an inquiry into the impersonation, conduct an impartial probe and take action against K. Babu Rao.
In her complaint made to the police, K. Vedasri said that she owned a piece of land measuring 192 square yards in survey number 58, situated at Vijayawada.
“My husband sold the property by forging my signature and using the photos of Tayyaba Tasneem instead of mine. Both of them are threatening me with dire consequences because I am demanding my rights,” she said in the complaint. The manipulation took place without her knowledge, she alleged.
She further alleged that her husband was involved in illegal intimacy with several women in the Old City. “My husband is staying with Tasneem without the dissolution of our marriage,” she said. “I have three daughters and a son with him.”
However, speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the deputy commissioner of police denied the allegations and said that she herself had left home in 1996, leaving him with the four children, who he took care of since then. “My son, who is studying engineering now, was just eight months old when she left us. I looked after them and raised them. Now my two daughters are married,” he said.
In 2016, the woman had filed a similar complaint in the city court, demanding an inquiry into a ‘fraud’ pertaining to a land parcel of 300 square yards.
“She has approached several courts and the same complaint is now addressed to our DGP sir. She has been approaching the courts for conjugal rights, whereas earlier she applied for a divorce, both the cases are still in court,” said the official, adding that after 21 years, she is now asking for her rights.
“If I was not taking care of her or harassing her, what has she been doing for the past 21 years? Why was she quiet all these days and who is taking care of her and why has she suddenly remembered all these issues?” Mr Babu Rao asked.
He said that she was doing all this to harass him psychologically and make money. “I had agreed to pay '5 lakhs and monthly '5,000 to her, but she demanded '15 lakh, as well as land and a higher amount to be given on a monthly basis,” he concluded. , adding, “my children also requested her to come back but in vain. She was staying separately all these years.”
