Chennai: A 23-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel committed suicide by shooting self with his service gun in the recruits training centre in Avadi on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Kailash Chander Rai (23) of Odisha. He was posted at the recruits training centre in Avadi here about six months ago, police sources said.
Around 8 am on Thursday, officers and other personnel at the centre heard a gun shot after which they rushed to find Kailash in a pool of blood. He was taken to the doctor on the campus who declared him dead. Police moved the body to RGGGH.
Preliminary probe suggested a family dispute to be the reason behind his extreme step. No suicide note was recovered. Police said that autopsy will be conducted on Friday and then the body will be handed over to the family.
