CM Pinarayi Vijayan conveys displeasure to P Jayarajan
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday conveyed his strong displeasure to Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan’s statement that he had no faith in the current police investigations into youth congress leader Shuhaib’s murder. The Chief Minister who was upset over the statement, gave a piece of his mind at the state conference venue. He was seen speaking to the Kannur leader briefly and party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnn too joined them later.
The incident has clearly brought into sharp focus the serious differences between the Chief Minister and Kannur district secretary over the murder. Many in the party believe that Jayarajan’s. The parents of YC Mattannur block secretary T. H. Shuhaib, who was killed allegedly by CPM workers, have in a memo to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sought a CBI investigation. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala handed over the memo to the CM. The letter states that the murder was a result of a high-level conspiracy by the CPM.
Shuhaib’s parents, in their letter, have claimed that it was “political vengeance, and intolerance towards their son by the CPM” that resulted in his murder. Shuhaib’s parents alleged that even though it was 10 days since their son was brutally hacked to death, the investigation was at a snail’s pace due to the intervention of the CPM. The letter also raises the complaint that the police have not been able to retrieve the weapons used for the murder, the vehicle in which the culprits escaped, or identify the real culprits.
“The statement made by CPM leaders that Akash Thillenkery and Rijin Raj, who the police claim to have arrested, were produced by them t itself proves the relationship between the culprits and the CPM. Social media showed that the two arrested culprit’s proximity with the top brass of the CPM leadership including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan”, says the letter. Shuhaib’s parents also said they believed that because of the intervention of the CPM leadership and some top police officials, the Kerala police would not be able to carry out a fair probe.
