Bengaluru: Railway's unreserved ticketing app registers 6,787 users

Local, season and platform tickets can be purchased using this app, which is available on Windows and Android.

Bengaluru: The unreserved ticketing system app (UTS) launched by South Western Railway on February 8, has received a good response and it already has over 6,787 registered users.

Of the three zonal divisions, the highest number of registered users are from Bengaluru division (5,023), with the other two being Mysuru and Hubballi.

The data from shared with Deccan Chronicle by Divisional Railway Manager R.S. Saxena reveals that, "The total passengers to have their tickets booked through this app are 8,796 and the total ticket amount collected is Rs 55,245." SWR launched this app officially on February 12, to help commuters buy tickets without standing in queues. Local, season and platform tickets can be purchased using this app, which is available on Windows and Android.

"The user must deposit money in the railway wallet (R-Wallet), that can be recharged through PayTM, Mobikwik or online. The features include booking, renewal of paper and paperless tickets along with recharge, profile management and booking history," said Sridhar Murthy, Senior Divisional Commercial Railway Manager, during the launch.

The highest passenger count calculated on UTS until now was 2,509 on February 14, while the highest ticket collection amount was Rs 7,265 on February 16. There are 1113 registered users from Mysuru are 651 from Hubballi.

The catch remains that paperless ticket cannot be booked within the ticketing zone and has to booked three hours before the commencement of journey or the first train arrives, whichever is first. The app will also identify stations near the commuter within a 5-km radius, the railway officials explained.

The commuters also has the option to book tickets on the app and get a printout at the counter or from an Automatic Ticket Vending Machine, or even display their QR code to the TC.
