171 Andhra Pradesh doctors alloted to Telangana
Hyderabad: As many as 171 doctors from AP have been allotted to Telangana state, and angry local doctors who have demanded that the state government must not accept them. The list of allocations has been sent by the reorganisation committee to the state government.
These AP-origin doctors are in the teaching hospitals in Hyderabad and Warangal. Dr B. Praveen, president of Telangana Government Doctors Association, says, “When staff was being bifurcated, it was pointed out that all the doctors from Andhra Pradesh must go to that state. These doctors do not need to be retained. What is the reason for them to continue in TS colleges?”
The association said the AP-origin doctors were being retained as professors, assistant professors and senior surgeons and this would hamper the promotion prospects of TS doctors.
A senior doctor on condition of anonymity said, “By following the staff allotment, the state government will do injustice to TS doctors. Already, retired doctors have not got any benefit from the new state. There has been nothing done for the TS doctors and this new order has further dampened our spirits.”
