Visakhapatnam: FCI officer convicted, 3 years' jail

After conducting regular trial, the court pronounced judgment convicting the accused for the offence.

Visakhapatnam: The second additional special judge for CBI cases, Visakhapatnam, G. Sunitha on Monday convicted the then manager of (Quality Control) of FCI, Cheepurupalle of Vizianagaram district, Syed Mahaboob Rahman in a disproportionate assets case and sentenced him to under go simple imprisonment for three years and slapped a fine of Rs 25,000.

Superintendent of Police, CBI, Vizag, R. Gopala Krishna Rao in a press release mentioned that during the period between January 2007 and March 2008 Rahman while serving as manager (Quality Control), FCI, in Vizianagaram district was in possession of movable and immovable properties in his name and his family members, disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 4,41,981 (126.51%) which he could not satisfactorily account for.

After conducting regular trial, the court pronounced judgment convicting the accused for the offence punishable under Sections 13(2) r/w. 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988.

The judge further ordered to confiscate the property of the accused to the extent of disproportionate assets (Rs 3,18,953) which was already been attached by the court, to the state, after appeal time is over.
