Track ready, Kochi Metro trial run on February 29

The three-coach train will initially run at a speed of 5 km per hour.

Kochi: Dismissing apprehensions over a further delay in commencement of trial run, Metro authorities have confirmed that trial run from Muttom to Kalamassery will start on February 29.

The ramp for pulling the train from the yard to the viaduct is ready at the coach maintenance yard at Muttom. The track also has been fixed, and the electrical works are progressing.

Experts from Alstom, the coach manufacturing company, are monitoring the works which are expected to be complete in a week.

The three-coach train will initially run at a speed of 5 km per hour. Later the speed will be increased gradually, and the trial run will be extended up to Edappally, according to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation sources.

The DMRC is now focusing on construction along the Aluva – Palarivattom stretch. IRCON has been laying tracks along the remaining stretch while Alstom team is installing the third traction for power requirement.

DMRC principal advisor E. Sreedharan has earlier announced that construction from Aluva to Palarivattom can be completed by April.
