Quick Verification Report against K Babu posted for April 23

The court had earlier posted the matter for consideration on Monday.

Thrissur: The Vigilance Court here on Monday notified that the Quick Verification Report submitted by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on February 8 on the complaint against Excise Minister K. Babu and Kerala Bar Hotel Owners Association working president Biju Ramesh allegedly for offering and accepting '50 lakh bribe would be considered on April 23.

The court had earlier posted the matter for consideration on Monday. Additional legal advisor for Vigilance V. K. Shailajan said that the case may be transferred to the recently inaugurated Vigilance Court at Muvattupuzha in the coming days.

In the QVR, the VACB has said that there was no evidence to corroborate the allegation against the minister and hence there was no need to register an FIR. In the 400-page QVR, Vigilance has reportedly submitted as many as 44 documents along with the details of the bank accounts of KBHA and Biju Ramesh.

The statements of both the respondents in the petition, Mr Babu and Mr Biju, were not recorded along with that of Biju’s manager Radhakrishnan and M. Raseef of Kerala Chamber of Commerce.
