Kerala: Pick your driving test date
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a bid to end the massive bribing in fixing dates for driving licence tests, the motor vehicles department (MVD) has introduced a new system that allows candidates to select a date of their choice online.
According to MVD sources, touts in nexus with a section of officials at RTO offices had been collecting money for altering dates. This was happening as there was no option for candidates to select the date of their convenience. The new facility is available on the MVD portal.
“So far the test date was issued automatically and there was no option for candidates to change it. The touts and some officials were exploiting it and they collect up to Rs 1,000 from applicants who wanted another date due to personal inconveniences,” said an MVD official.
With the new facility, candidates can select from the list of available dates online. They can also change it online.
