Court seeks draft order to curb graft
Hyderabad: Concerned at the hardships that farmers face while getting certificates from revenue authorities to apply for farm loans and power connections, due to the corruption in the two departments in Mahbubnagar district, the High Court on Monday asked the Telangana government to place a ‘draft GO’ before the court for making suggestions to provide better and corruption-free services to the farmers.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Rao was dealing with a taken- up case that said that farmers in Mahbubnagar district were not getting any official support without paying bribes. It was alleged that there were minimum fixed rates to be paid as bribe for every work.
On an earlier occasion, senior counsel S. Satyam Reddy who was appointed amicus curiae, made several suggestions to evolve a mechanism to curb corruption in the revenue and electricity departments. On Monday, Telangana special counsel A Sanjeev Kumar submitted that the government was ready to implement the suggestions made by the amicus curiae in the case and a government order would be issued in this regard.
